Here we go again...

...it's exam time again. Today I wrote exam 1 of 12. (Luckily the hardest exam is now out of the way, yippee!)

I recently had a conversation with my Mom about the importance of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s are very important for cognitive function and overall good health. Great sources of these fats are found in flax and hemp seeds and oils, walnuts, and leafy and dark green vegetables (if eaten regularly). If you aren't a vegan or vegetarian, fish is also a great source, however not all types.

Fish types that are the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids (in order of highest to lowest concentration of omega-3s):

Wild Salmon
Arctic Char
Atlantic Mackerel
Sardines
Black Cod
Anchovies
Oysters
Rainbow Trout
Albacore Tuna
Mussels
Pacific Halibut

I'd like to share with you a quote that I pulled from a Health Psychology lecture from this term:

When we choose to face our fears and embrace the estranged parts of self, an inner strength starts to develop and we are drawn to places that had previously held so much fear, only to find a warmth and comfort that had been missing for so long. This gives us courage to act not from fear but from love… Fear, like shame, holds the key to a deeper level of emotion if we have the courage to face it, releasing into our lives increasing quantities of vital energy in the name of enthusiasm, excitement, and a love of life.
