Suggestions.

Today I have a few mind and body suggestions:

MIND: Remember when I talked about Zeitgeist? Well, the movie (Zeitgeist: Moving Forward) is now available to watch (for free) on their website. If you haven't checked it out, I totally encourage you to do so; it is very thought provoking.

BODY: I just put the dirty dozen grocery list into my cell phone so I can easily access it while grocery shopping. Another tip would be to write it on a small piece of paper and tuck it into your wallet. Remember, you don't have to eat organic 100% of the time; just keep in mind that these fruits and veggies are the most chemically contaminated.

BODY: Have you heard of Kombucha ? I tried the Wonder Drink variety, in the Asian Pear and Ginger flavor. Kombucha is interesting as it is a fermented tea, meaning it contains bacteria and yeast that are good for your gut. Other fermented foods include kimchi, miso, sauerkraut, pickled vegetables, some types of yogurt, and tempeh have. Fermented foods are beneficial to the immune system too. Lots of people drink Kombucha tea (which is available in a variety of flavors and tastes similar to a fruity soda/pop) as they believe it helps them to detoxify. If you love drinking pop but are trying to cut back, Kombucha fermented-sparkling teas may be a way to satisfy the craving.

BODY: In Physiology, we spent over two hours learning about ECGs (electrocardiograms). In short, this test measures the electrical conduction of the heart. We learned that everyone over the age of forty should have an ECG as part of their regular health check-up to keep an eye on their heart. It is especially important that ECGs be preformed on people with a history (or a family history) of heart troubles.

  1. Thanks to your run-down of the "dirty dozen", and thanks to an earlier tip of yours about onions potentially being cleansing for the liver, I just went ahead and made a wholesale switch from bell peppers to onions.

Nothing much to remember...just a simple swap. :)
