EXCESSIVE DRINKING GUIDELINES
As defined by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism
Are you wondering what is considered a "drink", what is considered too much alcohol for both men and women, and what is "binge drinking"? Well, look no further than this post, where I try to highlight the important values regarding alcohol consumption!
FOR MEN: Greater than 14 drinks per week or greater than 4 drinks per occasion puts you at risk of excessive drinking
FOR WOMEN: Greater than 7 drinks per week or 3 drinks per occasion puts you at risk of excessive drinking
WHAT IS CONSIDERED A DRINK: 1 ounce/shoot of hard liquor, 1 bottle or can of beer, ~140 mL wine
WHAT IS CONSIDERED BINGE DRINKING: Greater than 5 drinks in a row for men and greater than 4 drinks in a row for women
Whoa! There's a huge difference between 14/week and 7/week!!
ReplyDeleteYep, it's fine for men to have two drinks a night while women should stick to just one.
